PLACES FOR PEOPLE LEISURE
COMPLEX MULTI-SITE UMBRACO DESIGN & BUILD
The client needed us to create an experience that linked multiple sites into a single seamless and responsive journey. Their membership area, booking pages, and content management system all existed in different places. They needed a single customer focus across all the sites. And they needed us to collaborate with a third party on UX and design. But possibly the greatest challenge would be designing a site to work with an API that didn’t even exist at the start of the project.
This is what we call our first steps, and includes upfront requirements gathering, initial UX and design, and the planning phase. Here, it needed to be highly detailed to make sure every requirement was met and that we were all on the same page in terms of the aims of the project.
We created a robust technical architecture that supported a seamless user journey. Key to this was setting out exactly how the various offerings across over 100 centres were organised and related to each other. This initial phase would prove crucial to the success of the project.
The finished site pulls together all the client’s varied offerings and options from more than 100 UK leisure centres.
For customers, the responsive site is a joy to use on any device – vital when typical user journeys span multiple screens at different times.
Behind the scenes, it’s a simple-to-use, flexible CMS (Umbraco) giving individual centre managers and central marketing differing levels of control over content – all with a consistent look and feel.
Delivering all this on a tight budget was only possible thanks to our Agile process. And, like many Agile projects, this is just the beginning. We’ll continue to apply enhancements and updates to make the customer experience even better.
